Racing, Rompers, and Runway Dreams: Keeneland Spring Trends 2025

Racing, Rompers, and Runway Dreams: Keeneland Spring Trends 2025

Derby week is finally here! But before the madness of hats, horses, and high stakes hits Churchill Downs, Keeneland gave us a sneak peek of what’s trending — and honestly, it’s giving everything it needs to give. We rolled into Lexington under the "Pink Pony Club" theme to see (and wear) all the looks, and trust me, it did not disappoint.

My Keeneland Look: Adventures in Fashion Survival

Let’s start with the essentials — my outfit. After a mini shopping spree through every boutique in Cincinnati, I somehow ended up grabbing a dress off Amazon (no shame, it was cute). Cut to two hours into the tailgate: the dress ripped. Crisis mode engaged.Luckily, I had a stash of safety pins left over from pinning adorable little bows onto my boots (also Amazon, lol). A few pins here, a denim jacket there, and boom — wardrobe malfunction averted. Shoutout to small boutiques for actually checking product quality though... lesson learned.

Even with the fashion drama, I felt adorable and, judging by what was trending around the track, pretty on point for the season. So let’s get into what everyone was wearing at Keeneland 2025:

Keeneland’s Top Spring Trends

  • Midi DressesThe unofficial uniform this year. Flowy, breezy, and just formal enough for race day vibes. Pastels, polka dots, and cute prints were everywhere.

  • Floral EverythingKeeneland looked like a literal garden party. From tiny daisies to giant tropical prints, florals were blooming all over the place.

  • Corseted Tea DressesTotal vintage princess moment. Structured bodices, flared skirts, delicate gloves — the whole look was giving timeless elegance.

  • Wide-Brim Hats and FascinatorsNo Keeneland trip is complete without the hat. Giant straw brims, ribbons, feathers, even crystal fascinators for those going for a lighter touch.

  • Seersucker & Linen Suits (Men’s Edition)The guys came dressed, okay? Powder blue, soft tan, and mint green suits were everywhere, usually paired with playful ties and dapper shoes.

  • Pastel Color PalettesMint green, blush pink, butter yellow... the soft spring shades ruled everything from dresses to shoes to nail polish.

  • Block Heels & Comfy ShoesRacing fashion pro tip: block heels > stilettos. Between the brick paths and grassy fields, everyone who chose wedges or stylish flats was winning.

  • Statement AccessoriesBig earrings, chunky bangles, and bright clutches — no one was leaving the house without something extra to finish the look.

  • Puff Sleeves & RufflesLittle pops of drama were in, with puffed sleeves and tiered ruffles making basic dresses feel runway-worthy.

  • Coordinated Group OutfitsFriend groups and couples in matching florals or pastels? We loved to see it. Instant photo opps everywhere.

And not to be dramatic, but my little cousin may have outdressed us all, absolutely nailing the Pink Pony Club look — boyfriend not required.
